The New DC
Good News, they've removed the trolls for Captain Marvel in Rotten Tomatoes even though it doesn't undo the damage. But I'm pretty sure barely anyone might have seen it, because Rotten Tomatoes is Rotten.
On to the Recent News, Aquaman 2 has been given a proper release date. So I thought it was high time to go through all the upcoming DC (or DCEU or whatever) movies (I'll go though Marvel soon).
Aquaman (December 21):
After the success of Aquaman and it has set many records which I'm not going to go deep into. But Geoff John had announced even before then that they were not going to follow the MCU format, and was going to focus on a more director-based format. When he announced it, I guess no-one took him seriously, but now they do. Aquaman showed everyone that each DC movie can be created without having any relationship with other movies, and that's exactly what the upcoming DC movies are going to do.
SHAZAM (April 5):
Few people have heard of SHAZAM, yeah. Upcoming in April, fingers crossed, SHAZAM!
Joker (October 4):
Joker is set in the 1980s, and is not at all part of the DCEU universe. When you create single movies though, you lose sight of that. Not much has been revealed about the movie, with wild fan rumors and a lower budget that other DC movies. Starring Joaquin as the lead character, and Robert De Niro playing a talk show host, Joker and Birds of Prey are the most exciting DC movies.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn) (Feb 7, 2020):
The Birds are not to be messed with, led by Batgirl the crime fighter/hacker, and along with her are Black Canary (Not sure if she'll use her scream), Rene Montoya the detective, the huntress, Cassandra Cain (in the comics she was introduced as Batgirl when Barbara was paralyzed by the Joker, and went to become a hacker called the ORACLE).
Birds of Prey is going to be Rated R. Directed by Cathy Yan, with a screenwriter Christina Hodson. Oh and don't forget, Margot Robbie is also appearing as Harley Quinn. Birds of Pre was going the first ALL-STAR FEMALE TEAM. The movie started filming on January 14, 2019 (under the working title "Fox Force Five").
Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020):
Director Patty Jenkins had planned to create a 3 movie series, with the last movie at present time. I thought the setting would be in post-war Vietnam but apparently it covers the Cold War instead. I'm sure Chris Pine would come in flashbacks, which means the movie will cover the past. Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns and David Callaham have written the script. The movie started filming on June 13, 2018.
I also wonder if the year 1984 had anything to do with the book, especially with the election going on. It might sound a bit satiric if it was referenced.
DC Super Pets (May 21 2021):
An animated movie of Krypto the Superdog and Streaky the Supercat.
The Batman (June 25, 2021):
The movie to be directed by Matt Reeves was originally announced in 2014. Ben Affleck was originally set to act and direct the movie, but quietly backed out of directing after some flops and the bad reception from Batman v Superman. He eventually quit this year from acting as well after many internet talks (or memes) about him.
The new Batman is reportedly going to be someone younger and thus places the movie in the past.
The Suicide Squad (August 6, 2021):
James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy was fired by Disney and instantly picked up by WB. Smart move, and he was given freedom to pick any movie and the movie he picked was the one everyone least expected. He's planning to reimagine the original movie and rewrite the script. As per his statement, there was only a slight possibility of the original characters to come back, though he did not confirm it.
There is a slight chance that Margot Robbie might reappear as Harley Quinn. Just yesterday, Will Smith confirmed to exit from his role.
The Flash (2021):
The Flash has been in development since 2013, and has been cycling directors many who would give up especially after the release of the 3 movies Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and justice League. Each director would come and after a while quit. At one point the title was changed to "Flashpoint" which was fitting then. It's no longer necessary but it can come in as useful because people need change. Flashpoint is a time travel story or rather alternate universe story.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have been appointed as the current directors. But with the release date and Ezra Miller's commitment to The Fantastic Beasts Series, they might have to delay the movie again. Unless he can become The Flash.
Aquaman 2 (December 16, 2022):
Nothing much has been revealed. Gives Jason Momoa time to play in the Doom reboot and Amber Heard in something.
I will also talk about movies in development, and Marvel movies in other articles. So that's it for now, SkateLate's Booting Out
