The Doctor Who Fell to Earth

Doctor Who has casted every member, and we all know who the lead is by now, "Jodie Whittaker". We got a whim of her ever since the end of the 2017 Christmas Special, where she appeared at the very last scene. "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" continues right after the 2017 Christmas Special, where The Doctor falls out of the TARDIS and thus loses her TARDIS, and faces a new threat while she breaks her sonic screwdriver.

Yaz: Hold on there, please, Madam....
The Doctor: Why are you calling me "Madam"?

The new Doctor is characterized as witty, smart and charming. The Doctor has a lot of challenges to face before she can finally get used to her new body. The primary challenge she has to get around doing is gender regeneration. Season 11 has "Jodie Whittaker" as The Doctor, and this is a game changer. Jodie Whittaker depicts the 13th Doctor and she shows a lot of signs of being Queer in Episode 1, even though she might be Asexual or other. Feminists and LGBTQIAP+ activists will be happy about the her depiction and the show's depiction. I definitely am! I hope we get a Queer Doctor.

The main cast of Season 11 was confirmed a while back. Set in "Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England", Episode 1 focuses on The Doctor, while she has been rounding up her new friends (or rather she has been helping them out). The Doctor's new friends, Yaz, Ryan and Graham are a diverse cast. Yasmin or "Yaz" is a muslim police officer. She is the first friend (or companion) of a South Asian descent. Her detective skills also give the team an advantage. Meanwhile, Ryan has dyspraxia and he is the 1st friend (or companion) depicting disability in a proper way, especially dyspraxia. This will become clearer throughout the season, and hopefully a breakthrough. Graham is the step-grandfather of Ryan, and he used to be a cancer patient. Ryan's grandmother was a chemo nurse, and treats Graham. The two of them get married after she treats him and his cancer goes into remission. Season 11 depicts Yaz, Ryan and Graham, as well as other guest characters really well.

Meanwhile, a new enemy is at large and the Doctor is threatened by it. The Stenza is a new alien race who have cold skin and can freeze humans just by touching them. The Doctor and her friends are initially attacked by Gathering Coils, which micro-implants DNA Bombs to locate people as a prize. The Gathering Coils give the information to Tzim-Sha, who is a Stenza. Tzim-Sha means to hunt people and become the leader of the Stenza. Tzim-Sha cheats by using Gathering Coils to locate people as prizes, instead of directly finding them. In the final showdown, Tzin-Sha loses against The Doctor when Ryan's grandmother deactivates the Gathering Coils by electrocuting it.

Episode 1 in general is not about a few quick fights with the "Stenza", even though it does introduce us to them. The Episode is about The Doctor. She forges her new sonic screwdriver, thus making it look more alien than ever. She has to rethink her ways, now that she is a woman. She redresses herself in a new and proper way to make herself look more feminine. Oh, and she also finds 3 new friends. That's what she's been occupied with, while she's being attacked by the Stenza and the Gathering Coils.

The Doctor: It's been a long time since I bought woman's clothes.

  1. In the final showdown and the attempt to stop Tzim-Sha in this episode, Ryan's grandmother dies.
  2. "Gathering Coils" micro-implants DNA Bombs to locate people, an outlawed procedure. The Doctor uses Ryan's phone to shock herself and remove the DNA Bomb within her. After that, she forges her own Sonic Screwdriver to remove the DNA Bombs in her friends. These Gathering Coils are awakened when Ryan finds a strange alien pod in the start of the episode.
  3. The Stenza looks like an ominous new threat. Let's see if the Stenza reappears in future episodes. When a recall device was thrown at Tzim-Sha, he automatically returns to his planet.
  4. The episode ends with Yaz, Ryan and Graham sent into deep space, along with the Doctor. The Doctor was trying to go to a different space time without the TARDIS, and with the help of her friends. This episode has no TARDIS, and The Doctor will surely find it next episode (hopefully).
  5. This episode has no LOGO and no Theme Song, though it should appear the next episode.
  6. Finding her own way is not easy, and The Doctor has to find her equipments. While finding new friends, the Doctor forges a new Sonic Screwdriver in Sheffield Steel.
  7. "Season 11, Episode 1" in Doctor Who has the "Highest Overnight Viewership" since 2013, the "Highest Overnight Season Premiere Viewership" since Season 4 (2008), and the "Highest Season Premiere Viewership" of all time.
  8. I've seen anti-liberal blogs and news sites trying to troll Doctor Who, but they've never worked.
